In this post I’m going to guide you to create your very own “Coming Soon” page on Squarespace.

I promise it’s super simple and won’t take you much time at all.

This tutorial is for you if…

  • You’ve already registered your domain name

  • You signed up for a Squarespace account

  • You’re still working on (or haven’t started yet) working on your website design

  • You are re-designing your site and want to hide your process until it’s complete

  • Want to avoid the embarrassment of having people see your work in progress

Alright, let’s get started!

In your Squarespace dashboard, head over the PAGES in the menu. Scroll down until you see the NOT LINKED section and click on the + icon to add a new page.

Now choose Cover Page and rename it to Coming Soon.

You’ll see the first layout automatically generated by Squarespace. The first thing you’ll want to do is to change it to the layout you want to use by clicking on CHANGE LAYOUT.

Once you’ve chosen the layout that works best for you, click Save and Back in the top left corner.

The next thing you’ll want to do is customize the branding and text of your new Coming Soon page.

Go through each of the sections to customize your logo, images, fonts, buttons, social media icons and style.

Note: Your social icons will only display if you have connected your social accounts. If you need a refresher on how to do this, follow this link.

The final step in creating your Coming Soon page is to set it as your home page! You must do this for it to take effect, otherwise visitors will be directed to whatever page you have set as home page.

Back in your PAGES panel, click on the Settings Cog next to your new Coming Soon page. Then scroll to the bottom of this panel and select Set as Homepage.

And Voila! That was easy, right?

BONUS TIP: Maximize the usage of your Coming Soon page to the max. Invite your visitors to take an action while your page is under construction, such as signing up for your email list. Or use it for any other call to action.
