THE IMPORTANCE OF CREATIVITY

I don’t know about you, but I have a very strong need to be creative in almost everything that I do. When I don’t do anything creative for a while, I feel as if though my life is getting stale. I always crave creativity. Being creative nourishes my soul.

Creativity is essential to our growth and happiness. It can fill our life with joy and give it a sense of completeness. Everyone can get creative and everyone needs some form of a creative outlet. When we are creative we feel as if our world is vibrantly alive.

Creativity is also imperative to your business. As Richard Branson put it, “A business has to be involving, it has to be fun, and it has to exercise your creative instincts.” I fully agree!

Think of it this way, if you don’t regularly come up with creative ideas, your business will become stagnant and that never attracts clients. You need to regularly generate new ideas in order to stay relevant in your industry.

Being creative also pays a huge role in authenticity. That’s why it’s vital that you practice coming up with our own unique ideas if you want to stand out from the competition. Using other people’s ideas will only get you so far. If you want to really stand apart, make an impact and stay on people’s minds, you must use your imagination.

I personally like to play around with different creative outlets, such as writing, soap making, photography, cooking, graphic design and even colouring. I find that whether I do something creative for business or pleasure, it always helps me evolve my business somehow. As I play around with different projects, I get sparks of ideas for how I can take my work to the next level.

One of the most powerful ways to be more creative still is doing something out of the norm. Whether it’s traveling, visiting a new city, trying something totally new or simply taking a walk in a new park, it always gets my creative juices flowing. There’s something about the newness of things that open up our brains to new possibilities. It gets us thinking differently and often helps us come up with new ideas.

One other important thing to remember is to never censor yourself when you’re trying to come up with new ideas. If you need to brainstorm for a new business idea for example, write every little thing down that comes to mind, no matter how silly it might seem at first. This process helps your mind generate more ideas, and you never know where it will take you.

So no matter what you do for a living, I highly recommend you practice being creative on a regular basis. Creative living is fun living.
